Snow tossed his head to disslodge the snow that was accumulating there. It had been an exciting morning and he still found himself frisking undersaddle before the woman on his back steadied him with a soft hand and a calm seat. There were so many new horses that had arrived in his home over the last week, not only the two stallions the woman and brought, but many others and with new scents and new faces. It had been very exciting and he felt the build up of energy in the entire stable that he recognized as the excitement before something big.

They had all assembled that morning outside the stable near a road. A crowd had formed and Snow whinnied to several of his herd mates and watched them and their riders preparing the rest of the humans. His human had visited him earlier that morning, the man talking to the small woman who rode him and giving him a pat and murmuring at him. The woman had seemed nervous but it was hard to tell when she was so wrapped up. When she had finished picking over his tack and actually scrambled aboard him she had shown him no sign of fear. He had anticipated tension, but her easy manner and confident seat had helped him settle and now he was more than content with watching the chaos unfold.

The leader with the dark hair and another who looked like him had made a lot of noise once everyone was mounted and the group had headed out. There were so many that before long they were strung out in a giant line. A few people rode in pairs or small groups but Snow and the woman soon were meandering along at the end of the collum. Snow didnt mind being behind most of the people. They had cleared a path nicely and although the ground was rather slushy now it let him really stretch his legs.

He was happily striding onwards through the deep drifts on their second day when the plague of snow shapes and snow piles seemed to stack up. It was like a jumble of low bushes, there were even sticks poking out of them. The woman pulled him up near one of the things and doing that strange barking noise humans seemed to do when happy she slid off him and told him to stand.

She began to pile snow together into a mound as he watched on curious. Several other people trailed past him as the people ahead went out of sight. He flicked his tail as he realised that the other shapes he passed must be similarly constructed. However the womans was different. He eyed off the one closest to him. It had more branches, and it also had something rather exciting emerving from close to the top. He snufled at it before delicatley crunching off the end. Yes! it was one of his favourites. Humans were silly to waste food in snow bushes.

The woman stood up brushing her legs and looking down upon the thing she had created. It looked familiar, but Snow could not place why its shape seemed familiar. She turned to him and smiled, noticing him munching away she chuckled and led him away from the rest of his snack. More silly human wastage. What she did next he completely understood though. Several humans had done the same that day, and he had even seen some of his equine brethren try and join in. She was making odd shrill noises as she lowered her body onto the ground and began thrashing her limbs around. She was too stiff in his opinion. There was not enough wiggling to really get a decen scratch and shake out of it. Humans were like foals sometimes, they really needed someone to show them how it was done.

Grunting and wiggling his lips in anticipation he shook the cumbersome saddle before lowering himself to the ground anyway, she did need his example after all. He happiliy sighed as he finally managed to get on his side, flicking his tail as he scrubbed his neck into the snow and flicked his feet through the snow. Building up momentum he got enough movement to flip himself over before repeating the flip and then lurching to his feet. Happily scratched he enjoyed a good shake to loosen up any muscles or snow that felt awkward and pricked his ears at the woman. She sat in the ground with snow through her small mane and her head shader in her hand. She was barking again.

She soon stood up and brushed herself off again before rearranging his tack, he must have moved something around while showing her how to roll. Humans were so picky sometimes. She pushed some things off his back before swinging herself up into the saddle. It was time for them to catch up with the herd again.
