Pre-auction Jitters

Haha, well you know what im like with pretty TB adoptables! especially bay ones!

So here is my second entry for *Greatalmightyqueen's Auction - [link] . I was so surprised to discover this girl had no applications, and well lets just say im a reall sucker for distance horses. hopefully she will do well in Aus if we get her, though dirt tracks are few and far between!

Frankie had been dragging Jess around the barns, slowley looking at all the youngsters for sale. They passed a grey and a chestnut and a bunch of bays, but although they were stunning animals none caught the girls eye.

The Purim esther had been the only one so far they had really been interested. Well untill a filly flopped around the corner like a fish on a line.

The bay was stunning, thick barrel and small elegant legs, though her head was a bit boofy and her ears were floppy she looked like she would grow well into herself.

Her temperament on the other hand left lots to be desired. As soon as the youngster was led out of her stall her eyes rolled, her ears twitched and her head went straight up.

Body quivering as the interested crowd looked her over and felt her legs she began the throw her head around trying to escape.

Her helpless groom tried to settle her as the crowd drew back. One of the men muttering about her before crossing her out in his pamphlet.

As the crowd dispersed the filly shoved her head under the grooms arm, sides heaving as her trembles ceased.

The groom sighed, rubbing her ears before leading her back into the stall.

Frankie strolled up, jess trailing behind her, constantly gazing back towards Esthers barn.

'hey, is this the Brother Derek filly?' she asked,

'Yea, though shes not getting much attention at the auction' muttered the groom 'If only she would stop being so nervy around strangers'

'well i'm interested, can we see her trot up for us?'

The groom clipped the lead on and led the reluctant filly out.

her eyes widened as she stared at the girls, tail flicking she followed the man, though not letting the strangers out of her sight.

Her movement was astounding, light and springy she seemed to float over the ground. They turned and the mare trooted back towards the barn and the strangers.

As they approached the mare began to pull back, nervous and shy. As they stopped Frankie pulled out her trusty horse befriending device.

Sugar cubes!

The filly's ears swiveled nervously, as her nostrils flared. standing still and quiet she let the mares curiosity get the better of her.

A delicate velvety muzzle touched her palm as the soft lips daintily removed the cube.

Munching happily the filly stepped behind her groom and began to take interest in the strangers.

'thats the first time today any one has taken the time to try and befriend her' said the groom 'everyone else just wanted to check her conformation and movement'.

'Oh trust me, to us the most important thing is her motivation. The best conformation in the world does nothing without the will to learn' Frankie began the all to familiar speech.

Jess sighed 'In other words shes going to try like hell to get this girl' she shook the guys hand before dragging her still talking friend off.

Analysis: She's got an enormous barrel housing what has to be a fantastic airway, which can only compound her phenomenaldistance dosage. Her legs are slightly on the short side for the rest of her body, but she should be able to run forever.

Distance girl! will definately be aiming this girl at the Cup... lets hope we get her!

p.s. really liking this pic! tried to get her to look a bit like dad and i hope it worked... though this kinda sketchy and pretty style reminds me of Plio's work. and i like it!
