Mark had brought his Waler stallion Duke down with him when he had first come to KhanCohban and he had settled well into life on the farm. His other horse had to remain on the mainland due to illness but she had finally recovered and gotten the all clear from the vets and customs to be able to be flown down to join her owner.  Mark had flown up for the weekend to collect her and help transport her to the airport, and then drive her from the airport to KhanCohban.

Harley had sent him a text the night before telling him that she had set up a stall for her next to Aeris in the training barn. Poor Aeris probably wouldn’t know what hit her when Gigi arrived. Bageeyn did not particularly like travel, and travel when it involved being handled by lots of strangers was the worst kind. Mark she trusted, so she didn’t cause too much fuss when he was around but he knew she would be very unimpressed for the first few days after the flight.

He was driving the truck with the float back towards KhanCohban on their final leg of the trip. They had passed Burnie half an hour ago and he knew there was still a while to go. The sun was getting low over the horizon and it was looking more and more like he would be arriving in the dark. It would probably be for the best as if it was daylight he would have felt bad keeping Gigi inside for the first night. She had spent most of her life living outdoors and was never very happy being confined.

The sun had slipped into the sea in a blaze of colour a long time ago when he finally turned into the front gate of the farm. The buzz of the cattle grid jolted Gigi causing her to toss her head and made Mark exhale happily. It was always scary doing the last part in the dark. The road was not the biggest or the best maintained due to their rural location and the abundance of small bouncies meant it was very easy to hit something. Hitting even a Pademelon while towing a float could lead to disaster and so he had crawled the last of the way to avoid any chance of that happening.

He tooted the horn as he got to the cottages and Harley hopped out pulling on gumboots and a coat before running down and jumping in beside him.  She looked on the screen showing a video feed from the trailer and a now rather agitated Gigi tossing her head as she smelled out the window and tried to get a look at where she was. She drove down the rest of the drive to the Training stables before pulling up in the car park. They got out of the cab and Harley gave mark a hand lowering the ramp and then stepped back as he went in to lead out his mare.

Gigi shuffled out, her shipping boots and rug hiding most of her. She skittered around a bit when she felt solid ground underneath her and tossed her head as she got a good look for the first time.  The horses in the barn let out a few whinny’s as they heard the commotion outside. Gigi flicker her ears before deciding to ignore them and head-butted Mark’s shoulder instead. He held her as still as possible as Harley began to undo the boots and blanket. Once she was unwrapped Harley collected the gear while Mark led her away for a walk around the grass at the side of the barn to stretch out her legs.

Name Meaning: Magic

15.1hh, 12 year old 'Officer type' Waler Mare,

Owned by Mark Torrock, stabled at KhanCohban Farm.

Build: Light, rangy. Long lean muscles with prominent shoulder and hindquarters. Slightly longer back and neck, with a narrow ribcage and blocky head. Not really a pretty mare, but is incredibly tough and has good dense bone and presence.
 Note: She struggles to maintain weight so needs a little bit of extra feed and supplements, especially when in heavy work.

"Gigi is a handful. On the ground she is independent, stubborn and seems to think she is too good to spend time with other horses or with people. She can be rather a loner and is a pain to catch when you need to bring her in. She is however an excellent riding horse. She is a quick learner and coupled with her independence it makes her very capable of performing her job extremely efficiently without much guidance needed from her rider. Gigi is very sensitive and doesn't like a rider who moves around too much or overloads her senses, so she best suits someone who can ride gently and let her do her job. When she is working she is very forward moving and that can unnerve new riders when coupled with her personality, but once you are used to her it just makes her that much easier to work with. She is not one for affection, so even when she likes you the best thing you can do for her is to let her work and then after rubbing her down let her out to do her own thing."
